Agrarian Research and Development Center (ARDC)

Funded in 2006 ARDC is Non-Governmental Organization, established by the researchers of the former Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Oenology with mission to enlarge research activities in various agricultural disciplines, including viticulture, winemaking, horticulture in the field of local biodiversity study and management, conservation and popularization of agricultural heredity of the country, sustainable agriculture, methodology for agrotourism, food security, environmental protection and so on.

Role and key persons: 

Dr David Maghradze: Grapevine and fruits genetic resources, in viticulture particularly with ampelography and molecular characterization of grape, prof. of Agricultural University of Georgia.

Dr Zviad Bobokashvili: horticulture and fruit genetic resources including breeding of new varieties, prof. of Agricultural University of Georgia. Dr Irma Mdinaradze: Viticulture and ampelography having teaching experience in viticulture.

Researcher Ramaz Chipashvili: Study of wild grape, vineyard management, organization of field collections.

Research facilities, infrastructure and equipment: 

Basic instrumental level for filed research, establishment and care of vineyards, fruit orchards and collections. An ampelographic laboratory of the Institute of Viticulture and Oenology can be also used.
